The mechanical testing laboratory gives technical assistance and guarantees quality control by evaluating the mechanical and operating characteristics of any class of metallic material.

Mechanical tests required by inspection and classification organizations are also performed for the certification of materials, welds and welding procedures.

Furthermore, the laboratory elaborates procedures and designs and constructs instruments, as well as carrying out tests, which due to their complex nature are unable to be done in the quality laboratories of companies in the sector.

The laboratory is accredited by ENAC, file Nº 44/LE194, for carrying out of the following tests:

• Mechanical tests on metallic materials.
• Mechanical testing of fitting elements: bolts, screws, pins.
• Mechanical tests on pipes.
• Mechanical tests on welded joints.
• Mechanical tests on steel and aluminium welding coupons used to qualify welders.
• Mechanical testing of steel and aluminium welding coupons as part of the qualification in arc welding.

• Standardized tests for the characterization of materials.

• Customized tests, as per client specifications, and the designing of the necessary tools.
  • Stress testing by extensometry.

  As the laboratory has access to its own workshop, all necessary specimens for carrying out tests can be mechanized on the premises thus ensuring compliance with the standard with respect to the shape, dimension and tolerances of specimens being tested.
